Birth Doula

Free Consultation

This is a great way to meet each other and see if we are a perfect fit. It's like a first date but without all the pressure! This lasts around 1 hour and gives you an opportunity ask me questions, tell me what you're looking for in a doula, and show off your cute baby bump!

Phone & Email Support

Whenever you have a question or want to let me know about anything, you'll have my email and cell phone number. I love to stay in communication and want you to be comfortable contacting me. Once you're 37 weeks, I will be "on-call" 24 hours a day. (Sooner if there are any concerns/complications) Please do not hesitate to call me late at night, or to wake me up if you think you are in labor! I will remain on-call for you 24 hours a day for up to two weeks after you deliver your baby.

As a Doula, I  Do Not:

2 Prenatal Visits

I will meet with you and your partner twice before labor to become acquainted, to explore and discuss your priorities and any fears or concerns, to discuss your birth plan and to plan how we might best work together. I want us both to be comfortable and on the same page prior to your babies birthday.

Photography

I love the story that a photograph tells. I've taken many photography classes, taken family, children, senior photos, and have been the photographer for many weddings. But my favorite story to capture is the birth of a family. I am available as a birth photographer, and would be honored to seize that moment for you. However, when I am a doula, I am all in. I cannot be your photographer and your doula, it wouldn't be fair to you. I can take a few pictures when I see fit, as I have the photographer eye and know when there's a special time that you'll want frozen to look at forever. I offer newborn photography, as well. During labor

I prefer that you call me when you think you are in labor, even if you do not need me yet. We will decide if I should come to you right then or wait for further change. Except for extraordinary circumstances, I will remain with you throughout labor and birth. I will provide comfort techniques, both physical and emotional support for you and your partner, and staying within my scope of practice, aid you with whatever you and baby need to stay safe and happy. I will remain with you for one to two hours after birth, until you are comfortable and your family is ready for quiet time together.

Perform any clinical tasks

Such as blood pressure, fetal heart checks, vaginal/cervical exams, or temperature checks. I am there to provide only physical comfort and emotional support.

Make decisions for you

I will help you get the information necessary to make an informed decision. I will also remind you if there is a departure from your birth plan. And I will always give you the support you need to back up your decision.

Speak to the staff on your behalf

I will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, but you or your partner will speak directly to the clinical staff. As your doula, I work for you and not your care provider or the hospital.

Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience

I am there with a clear head and leave all my "baggage" at home.  I will be there to serve you with an open mind and prepared to help you receive the birth experience of your dreams.

Baby’s first feeding Support

I will be available to help with the initial breastfeeding, if necessary. Here are two links for breastfeeding videos that I find both educational and fascinating. Unisef Baby Crawl  and  Baby Led Attachment  Mother Nature is truly amazing!

Postpartum follow-up visit

I will meet with you for two postpartum visits.  The first visit will be scheduled two to three days after your baby's birthday and the second will be scheduled two weeks post birth. This will give us a chance o discuss the birth, give referrals, help mom with breastfeeding, answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Experience with teens, cesarean, natural and medicated birth, twins, single parents, and clients on bed rest.
